Shiho Oyama stormed into a five-stroke lead at the Japan LPGA Tour Championship on Friday as defending champion Yuri Fudo climbed into third at the midway point of the season-ending event in Miyazaki.

Teeing off one shot back, local favorite Oyama put together five birdies in a flawless round of 5-under 67 at Miyazaki Country Club and replaced Mitsuko Kawasaki to the top of the leaderboard on 7-under 137.

The 28-year-old Miyazaki native completed the best score of the tournament so far with two more birdies through her last four holes while Kawasaki surrendered her lead with a 1-over 73.
