The Japan midfielder fired a left-foot free-kick from 25 meters past Motherwell goalkeeper Graeme Smith into the top right corner for Celtic's fourth goal in the 67th minute.

Nakamura played the full 90 minutes and also had a hand in two other goals in a match that saw Stilian Petrov score a hat-trick.

"I was able to keep focused on sending the free-kick in on goal," Nakamura said of his first goal in seven league matches. "It was a long-range shot but its velocity and trajectory were perfect."

Elsewhere, Atsushi Yanagisawa suffered a sprained left ankle in Messina's 1-1 draw with Parma in the Italian first division.

The Japan striker came on in the 70th minute as a substitute and left the pitch six minutes later after picking up the injury. The team doctor later said Yanagisawa is expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks, leaving him doubtful for Japan's home friendly with Angola on Nov. 16.
