Japanese challenger Noriyuki Komatsu was stopped in the fifth round by WBC flyweight champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam of Thailand in a world title bout Saturday.

Referee Malcolm Bulner from Australia called an end to the bout after 1 minute, 42 seconds of the fifth round. The Thai boxer was leading on all three score cards. Pongsaklek defended his title for the 11th time and retired his fifth Japanese opponent to retain the belt in the 12-rounder at Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium.
