NEW YORK (Kyodo) Japan's Ai Sugiyama and Elena Dementieva of Russia rebounded from one set down to beat Liezel Huber of South Africa and Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 and reach the women's doubles semifinals of the U.S. Open on Thursday.

The victory gave Sugiyama a place in the women's doubles semis of a Grand Slam event for the second time in a row, following her runnerup finish at Wimbledon in July when she paired with Huber.
