Germany sent Japan to its fourth loss in the women's World Grand Prix volleyball series with a 3-1 victory on Saturday.

Ai Otomo helped Japan win the first set before the Germans took advantage of their height at the net and a series of defensive miscues by the Japanese to rally for a 24-26, 25-17, 25-19, 25-19 victory. The loss is another setback in Japan's quest for a podium finish at next month's Athens Olympics.
