Fourteen-year-old amateur champion Mika Miyazato shot a 5-under-par 67 on Friday to share the lead after the first round of the Stanley Ladies tournament.

Miyazato, who became the youngest winner of the national women’s amateur championship last month, matched Japanese No. 1 Yuri Fudo and tour rookie Yukari Horikoshi with six birdies and one bogey at Tomei Country Club.

Teenage sensation Ai Miyazato, who played with Mika Miyazato in the same threesome, finished the day one stroke behind the co-leaders along with Aki Nakano, Mika Tajiri and Kumiko Hiyoshi. The Miyazatos are not related.
