Frenchman Xavier Delerue won his first title of the season in the men’s snowboardcross final on the second day of a World Cup event on Friday.

Delerue placed ahead of Canadians Robert Fagan and Drew Neilson, who came second and third, respectively, at the Joetsu Kokusai Ski Resort.

Itaru Chimura placed 39th for the best finish among Japanese competitors in the men’s event.

In the women’s final, American Lindsey Jacobellis emerged victorious for the second time in as many days, by crossing the finish ahead of Julie Pomagalski of France and Canadian Erin Simmons.
