Japan rebouded from back -to back defeats to sweep aside Turkey 3-0 at the women's volleyball World Cup on Saturday.

Japan prevailed 25-21, 25-16, 25-16 to notch its fourth win against two defeats and keep alive its chances of fast track Olympic qualification on a day where other teams also vaulted into contention with five matches still to go. Asian champion China marched ruthlessly on with a 3-0 whipping of South Korea and is the only unbeaten team after the United States suffered a surprising first defeat at the hands of Poland, 25-21, 31-29, 22-25, 21-25, 15-12. In other matches, Italy beat the Dominican Republic 3-0 for its fifth win while Brazil is also 5-1 after a 3-0 win over Egypt. Olympic champion Cuba leveled its record to 3-3 after a 3-0 win over Argentina.
