Japan's Ryoko Tamura, who has won an unprecedented six straight titles at the just-ended World Judo Championships in Osaka, said Tuesday nearly 1,000 people will attend her wedding in Tokyo on Dec. 20.

The 28-year-old, who also won the gold in the 48-kg category at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, will marry baseball player Yoshitomo Tani of the Orix BlueWave at a downtown hotel.

"We are not planning to have any go-between. I'm happy that preparation for the wedding is completely different from that for judo (matches)," Tamura said, adding, "I want France very much (for the honeymoon). But it looks like Mr. Tani likes Italy."
