Kiichiro Miyamoto dived his way to a seventh straight title when he won the 1-meter springboard final on the opening day of the national diving championships Friday. The 28-year-old Tottori native amassed 335.25 points at Yokohama International Pool to finish streets ahead of second-place diver Hirosuke Nagahisa, who totaled 307.80, while Tomoaki Nishikawa was third with 307.14. Ryoko Nishii, a member of Japan's team at last month's World Swimming Championships in Barcelona, won the women's 3-meter springboard final with 493.98 for her first title. The championships, which run through Sunday, also serve as a qualifier for the diving World Cup in Athens in February.
