The Yomiuri Giants have set their sights on acquiring major league outfielder Chris Latham, who was dropped from the New York Yankees' 40-man roster on Monday.

Latham, who went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and a stolen base in four games for the Yankees this season, will soon be placed on waivers and could decide to play in Japan if he is released from the New York club.

The Giants have a working agreement with the Yankees and may enter talks to acquire the 29-year-old if he decides not to play in the minors or for another major league club.
