OSAKA – American 100-meter world record holder Tim Montgomery will head a strong field at the Osaka Grand Prix athletics meet next month, organizers said Thursday.
Meanwhile, world silver medalist Koji Murofushi will come up against world and Olympic champion Szymon Ziolkowski in the hammer at the May 10 event at Nagai Stadium.
Montgomery will make his first 100-meter appearance since setting a new world record of 9.78 seconds in September last year at the Mexico Grand Prix on May 3 before flying to Japan for the meet seven days later.
Montgomery was edged out by compatriot Shawn Crawford in Osaka last year but will start as clear favorite this time around.
