Katsuhiro Oyama and Kanae Meguro won their second national cross country titles in as many days by winning the freestyle pursuits Wednesday.

Oyama, who won the men’s 10-km classical Tuesday, held off a charge from Takeshi Mizofuchi in the 15-km freestyle leg for a combined time of 1 hour, 7 minutes, 21.6 seconds at the Akiyama course in Yamagata Prefecture.

Mizofuchi finished runnerup in 1:08:01.0 after clocking the day’s fastest time of 39:57.0, leapfrogging nine skiers who finished ahead of him in the classical race.

In the women’s 10-km freestyle, Meguro came home first in 44 minutes, 9.1 seconds to add to her 5-km classical victory.
