Ozeki Asashoryu, who became the first Mongolian to win the Emperor's Cup last month, received a top sporting award from Mongolian President Natsagiin Bagabandi on Thursday for his achievements in sumo.

Asashoryu received a hero's welcome on return to his native Ulan Bator after winning the Kyushu Grand Sumo Tournament and was awarded his country's highest sporting honor at the president's official residence.

"I will do my utmost not to let the Mongolian people down," said Asashoryu.
