Meitoku Gijuku catcher Yujiro Kakei singled and doubled and drove in four runs Tuesday as the Kochi Prefecture school rolled 7-2 over Fukuoka Kodai Joto at the 74th national high school baseball invitational tournament.

Meitoku Gijuku joins Naruto Kogyo (Tokushima) and Jinsei Gakuen (Kagawa) as the third school from Japan's smallest main island of Shikoku to win a berth in the quarterfinals of the spring classic at Koshien Stadium.

In the second game, Urawa Gakuin ace Hideo Sunaga notched 12 strikeouts over eight innings and held Miyazaki's Nobeoka Kogyo to five hits as the Saitama school cruised to a 7-0 win.

In the third game, Hotoku Gakuen rallied for two runs on three hits and a throwing error in the seventh inning to win a seesaw contest with Koryo of Hiroshima Prefecture 5-3 and book the final place in Wednesday's quarterfinals.
