Impressionist artist Ana Monaghan is currently holding a free exhibition of her paintings at the City Club of Tokyo in Akasaka through Oct. 25.
Monaghan has spent 16 years in Japan, painting Gaugin-influenced landscapes and tropical scenes in watercolors. Her art has been displayed alongside that of the 19th-century Italian painter Amedeo Modigliani and is also on permanent display with the likes of another 19th-century master, Paul Gaugin. Monaghan recently finished a project of 16 large paintings for a cruise liner that tours the islands of Hawaii.
The exhibition's opening hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Mon.-Fri. To attend, make a reservation (individuals and groups welcome) with the City Club of Tokyo, Canadian Building, B1, 3-38 Akasaka 7-chome (tel. [03] 3401-1121).
