Shinobu Ono put Japan ahead for good in the dying seconds of the first half as the world champions earned a hard-fought 2-1 win over South Korea on Saturday in the final round of women’s Asian qualifiers for the London Olympics.

Japan stayed top of the table with a maximum six points from two matches, two points clear of second-place North Korea in the six-team tournament in China. South Korea remained with one point.
