BayStars sign Sander
The Yokohama BayStars have formally acquired outfielder Anthony Sanders from the Seattle Mariners, officials of the Central League club said Monday.
Yokohama signed the 27-year-old Sanders, a member of the gold medal-winning U.S. baseball team at last year's Sydney Olympics, for a combined $350,000 in annual salary and signing bonus.
Sanders made the Mariners roster for Opening Day this season along with former Orix BlueWave star Ichiro Suzuki, but gathered only three hits in 17 at-bats before being sent down to Triple-A Tacoma. Sanders has hit .240 in 13 games in the major leagues.
