Recent articles suggest that Russia poses a new threat to the West. I would like to add that practically all Russians want good relations with the United Kingdom and the European Union. But this kind of relationship should be based on mutual respect.
As a nation, Russia wants only better conditions for her economic and social development after more than 70 years of Communist dictatorship. We are still learning how to live and work in a free economy. So, we would like to be free of external pressure. In the face of external pressure, we will not agree to any conditions that might become harmful for our future. The United States, Japan and the EU should respect Russia's position.
