Pioneer Corp. said Sunday it will build a new plasma television manufacturing plant in Yamanashi Prefecture and have it up and running as early as the next business year, which starts in April.
With the construction of the plant, the audio equipment maker plans maintain its global market share for plasma TVs at 10 percent amid intensifying competition.
The company said the size of the plant and total investment will be decided by the end of this year after assessing market demand and trends.
