Kaoru Okano, a former president of Meiji University, died of cancer Wednesday, his family said Thursday. He was 76.
Okano's funeral will include only close relatives but a separate memorial service will be held July 20 at 1 p.m. at Tokyo Prince Hotel in Minato Ward.
Okano served as the university's president between 1992 and 1996. Books he authored include "Seiji Fudo Ron" ("Theory on Political Climate").
