The jazzy spirit of Switzerland will be coming to Japan this weekend in the form of the Montreux Jazz Festival, giving Tokyoites a chance to hear musicians like guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel and singer Marisa Monte perform at the same event. The Japanese edition of the festival will be held mainly at Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall from Oct. 12 to 14.
In addition to a handful of acts from abroad, such as Canadian band Badbadnotgood, Japanese artists, such as pianist Ai Kuwabara, are also set to take the stage. There will be free shows featuring the quintet Blu-Swing, a trio led by Finnish trumpeter Jukka Eskola, and more. (Yuki Yamauchi)
