The Osaka Great Santa Run is returning to spread some Christmas cheer on Sunday, Dec. 8, where people can don Santa costumes and get moving for a good cause. The 4 km fundraising event begins at Osaka Castle Park at 9 a.m., where participants can run (or walk) to raise donations for children currently hospitalized with life-threatening illnesses. Interested participants can sign up online where part of the registration fees will go towards gifts for young beneficiaries warded in Osaka’s various hospitals. Organizers this will visit the children with presents during their Christmas parties, such as those staying in Osaka University Hospital.
Each ticket (adults: ¥3,500; university and high school students: ¥2,500) includes a one-size-fits-all Santa suit, while each child’s ticket (ages 3 and up: ¥1,500) comes with a free Santa cap. Participants may also wear original costumes of their choice and bring along infants or pets to add to the festive joy.
Participants can also help to support the event by handing out flyers, donating directly online, or purchasing Santa Run drinks at specially designated vending machines and even original merchandise. It is the most wonderful time of the year to get into the giving spirit.
