The Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens released right-hander Junichi Tazawa on Monday after he played for them for just over a month.

The 32-year-old veteran reliever, who signed a minor league contract with the Detroit Tigers on June 4, went 0-1 in seven games with a 9.39 ERA for Toledo.

Tazawa made his major league debut with the Boston Red Sox in 2009. In his second season with the Miami Marlins in 2018, he was cut loose in May after posting a 9.00 ERA in 22 games.

He had an eight-year stint with the Red Sox, including the 2010 season he missed entirely after undergoing elbow reconstruction surgery. Over his career, he went 21-26 with a 4.16 ERA and four saves in 379 games.
