Two-time World Cup defender Yuichi Komano is parting ways with FC Tokyo, the J. League first-division club said on Tuesday.

The 35-year-old fullback joined Tokyo at the start of the season from Jubilo Iwata, but was loaned out to Avispa Fukuoka in July. Komano, however, was unable to prevent Fukuoka's drop to the second tier as the Kyushu side finished dead last in the overall standings.

Komano's future remains to be seen, but it appears he will continue his career.

"I hope to build on the experience I had here and keep working hard," Komano said in a statement released by Tokyo.
