Japan's Ginga Munetomo finished fourth in the men's trampoline final at the Rio Olympics on Saturday, while countryman Masaki Ito could not improve on his fourth place at the London Games four years ago, ending in sixth.

Uladzislau Hancharou of Belarus, the 2015 silver medalist and two-time European champion, won the gold with 61.745 points, followed by defending champion Dong Dong (60.535) and fellow Chinese world champion Gao Lei (60.175).

Munetomo, a 22-year-old making his Olympic debut, earned 59.535 points that included the second-highest difficulty score of the day.

"I want to work steadily on polishing areas where I am still lacking so that I will definitely be able to reach for a medal in four years," he said, referring to the next Summer Games in Tokyo.

Ito, 27, who received 58.800 points, said, "I'm disappointed that I couldn't show what I've got. I felt that the Olympics is a stage where I can least perform my best."
