Ai Fukuhara had one of the best wins of her career Tuesday, beating world No. 4 Feng Tianwei in straight games to move into the Rio Olympics women's singles semifinals.

Later in the day, countryman Jun Mizutani got past Marcos Freitas to progress to the men's final four — becoming the first Japanese man to advance to the semifinals in the sport at an Olympics, while Koki Niwa went down 4-1 to Chinese superstar Zhang Jike.

Fukuhara demolished her Chinese-born Singaporean opponent on the Riocentro Pavilion tables, winning 4-0 in just 36 minutes.
