The Japan Football Association said Thursday a revenue of ¥25 million ($227,250) raised from this month's charity match between Japan's Under-23 team and Ghana will be donated to quake-hit Kumamoto Prefecture.
Japan's U-23s won 3-0 last week in Tosu, in nearby Saga Prefecture, almost a month after a series of big earthquakes first hit Kumamoto on April 14 and claimed 49 lives.
The JFA will also donate ¥5 million to the prefecture, while an additional ¥5 million will be donated to the Kumamoto Football Association which saw its office damaged and will need to be relocated.
The JFA will also donate ¥2.2 million ($20,000) to the Ecuador Football Association after the country was hit with a quake on April 16 that has caused 661 fatalities.
