George Washington falls in 2OT


ShawnDre’ Jones scored 29 points, Khwan Fore had 18 and the pair combined for all 13 Richmond points in the second overtime of a 98-90 win over George Washington on Thursday.

Each made a basket and combined to go 9 of 12 from the line while the Colonials were 2 of 7 from the field with two turnovers in the second overtime.

Jones had a 3-point play with 22 seconds left in the first overtime, and Paul Jorgensen’s pull-up jumper from the left elbow bounced off the rim with four seconds to go for GW.

Kevin Larsen and Patricio Garino had 17 points apiece for the Colonials (15-5 overall, 4-3 Atlantic 10 Conference), who trailed by 13 points in the second half. Sophomore forward Yuta Watanabe added 14 points.

Watanabe, who hails from Kagawa Prefecture, is averaging 8.2 points and 3.6 rebounds. He has started all 20 Colonials games.
