Right-hander Junichi Tazawa re-signed with the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday on a one-year $3.375 million deal after avoiding arbitration.

The 29-year-old, who pitched in 61 games last season for his third straight year with 60-plus games, originally demanded $4.15 million while his team counter-offered $2.7 million.

Tazawa posted three saves last year, including his first in three years, and was 2-7 with a 4.14 ERA in his sixth year at his only club to date. Boston managed to avoid arbitration with Tazawa last year by offering him a single-year deal worth $2.25 million.
