The Yomiuri Giants signed free agent second baseman Luis Cruz, the Central League club announced Friday.
The 31-year-old Mexican played for the Chiba Lotte Marines for the past two seasons. He batted .255 with 16 home runs and a team-high 73 RBIs in 133 games this season.
Cruz, who was named to the All-Star team and claimed a Golden Glove Award as the top second baseman this year, signed a two-year deal for an annual $2 million. He also played shortstop, first base and third base last year.
