Japan's women beat Peru in straight sets for their fifth win in six games, kicking off the second round of the FIVB World Cup on Sunday.

The 25-19, 25-21, 25-15 win at Sendai Gymnasium saw Japan stay in third place on 15 points. Saori Kimura and Miyu Nagaoka had 12 points each for Japan.

Russia remained on top of the table after thrashing South Korea in straight sets to maintain its perfect record with 17 points while the United States, which dominated Kenya, is in second with 16 points.
