Club World Cup matches will be played in Osaka for the first time as the tournament returns to Japan after two-year absence in December, the Japan Football Association said Friday.

Yanmar Stadium Nagai, boasting a capacity of over 47,000, will host four games, including a semifinal on Dec. 16, while Yokohama's Nissan Stadium will stage the other four games, including the final on Dec. 20.

Japan previously hosted the tournament from 2005 to 2008 and in 2011 and 2012. The competition, a two-year commitment, was held in Morocco in 2013 and 2014.

Yanmar Stadium Nagai will replace Toyota Stadium in Aichi Prefecture, where four games were played in each of the 2011 and 2012 tournaments.

Car manufacturing giant Toyota Motor Corp. recently withdrew as title sponsor from the competition, having sponsored the tournament and its predecessor, the Toyota Cup, since its launch in 1981.

Six champion clubs from each continental confederation as well as the host nation's league champion will compete for the title over 11 days, starting on Dec. 10.
