Frenchman Eric Mombaerts said Friday he has reached an agreement to manage J. League first-division side Yokohama F. Marinos next season.

The 59-year-old, who had been coaching French Ligue 2 side La Havre, revealed to Kyodo News by phone that he had come to terms with the club.

"I have not visited Japan yet, I made my decision at the end of a video conference in which we discussed things to my satisfaction," Mombaerts said. "I'm really excited by this new challenge."

The Frenchman has coached his nation's under-18 and under-21 national teams.
