The Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters on Friday announced the acquisition of former Florida Marlins and Boston Red Sox outfielder Jeremy Hermida.

The 30-year-old Hermida, who played with the Milwaukee Brewers Triple-A affiliate Nashville this past season, joins the Fighters on a one-year deal worth ¥60 million.

Hermida has played 632 games in the major leagues, posting a .257 batting average with 65 home runs and 250 RBIs.

"For the past several years I have wanted to play in Japan and finally that strong wish has been realized," Hermida said in a club statement.
