Japan failed to win a medal on Friday in the final women's weight class at the world championships, when Rio Watari lost in the first round of the 63-kg category.

Watari's defeat to last year's beaten finalist, Mongolia's Battsetseg Soronzonbold, saw the women finish with four golds and one silver medal.

In Greco-Roman, Japan's Hiroyuki Shimizu lost his bronze medal match in the 75-kg division to American Andrew Thomas Bisek.

World debutant Masayuki Amano won his first three bouts in the 85-kg division before being knocked out in the quarterfinals by France's Melonin Noumonvi.
