NEW YORK – Kurumi Nara earned her first seeding at a Grand Slam event on Wednesday, when she was seeded 31st in the women’s draw at the U.S. Open, which begins Aug. 25.
Nara, who won her first career title this season on the WTA tour, is a career-high 32nd in this week’s world rankings. The top women’s seed is Serena Williams of the United States, who will be seeking her third straight U.S. Open title.
