Seven-time Olympian Noriaki Kasai finished in third place on Friday for his sixth World Cup podium finish of the season.

Kasai, who won the silver medal in the men's individual large hill and a team bronze at the Sochi Olympics, made leaps of 135.5 and 132 meters for a total of 261.4 points.

Anders Bardal triumphed on home soil with a score of 269.3.

Kasai took painkillers following his trial runs to alleviate pain in his right knee.

"Wow! I was waiting patiently and thinking that there are not only bad things like hurting my right knee, but good things happen too," said Kasai.
