The Japan Association of Athletics Federation said Friday that the International Association of Athletics Federations has decided not to recognize Yoshihide Kiryu as joint junior world-record holder in the 100 meters.
The JAAF was informed Thursday that Kiryu’s 10.01-second time on April 29 would be invalidated due to the type of wind-measuring equipment used at the race, although the time will continue to be listed in the IAAF rankings. Kiryu’s time currently ranks as the ninth fastest 100 meters this year.
