Keisuke Honda showed he is hitting top form ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifier, the Japan midfielder scoring his sixth goal of the season Sunday in CSKA Moscow's 2-1 away win over Terek Grozny in the Russian Premier League.

Group B leader Japan plays Oman in Muscat on Nov. 14. Alberto Zaccheroni's side has a five-point lead over Australia and Oman halfway through the qualifying campaign for Brazil 2014.

With CSKA down by one, Honda leveled in the 25th minute with a dynamite volley from a left-wing cross. As the clock ticked away, he set up the winner in the 88th minute for Pontus Wernbloom, who struck off Honda's rebound.

CSKA climbed to the top of the table with the victory, unseating Anzhi Makhachkala by a point.
