Toray claims volleyball crown


Saori Sakoda had a match-high 32 points to lead the Toray Arrows in a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over the Toyota Auto Body Queenseis in the women’s final of the volleyball national championships on Sunday.

The Arrows defeated the Queenseis 21-25, 27-25, 25-21, 25-23 at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium to claim their first title in four years and fourth championship overall.

Saori Kimura contributed with 22 points for Toray, while Ayako Sana scored a team-high 29 for the opposing side.

The Panasonic Panthers downed FC Tokyo 25-18, 25-16, 23-25, 25-19 in the men’s final.
