Former FC Tokyo manager Hiroshi Jofuku is set to take charge at all-but-relegated Ventforet Kofu next season, a Kofu spokesperson said Thursday.

"Nothing has been signed yet but it's basically a done deal," the spokesperson said.

Jofuku took over at FC Tokyo in 2008 and led the team to victory in the Nabisco Cup final the following year.

The 50-year-old was released in September last year after a string of poor results but his successor Kiyoshi Okuma was unable to save Tokyo from relegation.

Kofu, which appointed Satoru Sakuma to replace the sacked Toshiya Miura in August, faces Omiya Ardija away on Saturday needing a minor miracle to avoid relegation to the second division after just one season back in J1.
