Japan Football Association President Junji Ogura will ask FIFA chief Sepp Blatter for cooperation in getting Japan players based in Europe released for this summer's Copa America in Argentina.

Ogura on Wednesday left Japan for Asuncion and the South American football confederation's (CONMEBOL) general assembly, which Blatter will also be attending.

"I think we will be able to get at least 15 players," Ogura told reporters at Narita airport.

Japan has told CONMEBOL it will take part in the Copa America on the condition that a minimum of 15 European-based players are made available.
