The New York Mets called up right-handed reliever Ryota Igarashi on Monday, according to Major League Baseball transactions.

Igarashi and pitcher Jason Isringhausen were added to the bullpen before the start of a four-game series against the Colorado Rockies at Citi Field. The Mets designated Blaine Boyer for assignment and optioned Lucas Duda to Triple-A to make room for the roster.

“Chances are tough to get these days. I want to make full use of this opportunity and do my best,” said Igarashi.

The 31-year-old had been a non-roster invitee in spring training before he was demoted to the minor leagues. He made two appearances with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons and notched his first save on Sunday.

Igarashi, in the final year of a two-year contract, has a 1-1 record with a 7.12 ERA in 34 appearances with the Mets.
