FUKUOKA (Kyodo) World open-category judo champion Daiki Kamikawa captured his first national invitational title Saturday, scoring an ippon victory over Keiji Suzuki with one second left in the over-100 kg final.

In a rematch of the 2010 final, Kamikawa countered the Athens Olympic gold medalist's attempt at an outer leg trip and sent him falling to the mat in the two-day meet at Fukuoka Kokusai Center, which serves as the final selection event for the world championships in Paris in August.

In last year's final, Suzuki downed Kamikawa with the same move just before time expired.

World champion Takamasa Anai defeated Akinori Hongo by ippon in the 100 kg final for his third straight crown, his fourth overall.

On the women's side, Mika Sugimoto claimed her third consecutive over-78 kg title, while Yoriko Kunihara successfully defended her title in the 70 kg class.
