CHIBA (Kyodo) The defending Japan Series champion Chiba Lotte Marines will be able to use QVC Marine Field for their season opener on April 12 against the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles, senior club official Akira Ishikawa said Friday.
The outside of the ballpark, called Chiba Marine Stadium until last year, has been damaged by the March 11 quake-triggered tsunami and is under repair.
"We've received the go-ahead from the repair workers to host the opening game in Chiba," senior Marines official Akira Ishikawa said Friday.
