The Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles will accept the bid from a major league team for right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma, a source speaking on condition of anonymity told Kyodo News on Sunday.

The team name and the amount offered for the services of the 29-year-old Iwakuma through the posting system remain undisclosed. Bids for the World Baseball Classic winner were accepted until Saturday through Major League Baseball.

According to the source, Rakuten received a bid higher than what it was expecting and will accept the offer from the unnamed team, which has 30 days to work out a deal with Iwakuma.

The Seattle Mariners, the Texas Rangers and the Oakland Athletics have been mentioned as possible bidders for the Pacific League All-Star.
