KUALA LUMPUR (Kyodo) Mika Miyazato continued her recent run of good form by finishing tied for third at the inaugural Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia on Sunday.

Miyazato shared third with Sweden's Maria Hjorth after a final-round 2-under 69 left her with a 6-under 207 total, three strokes behind winner Jimin Kang of South Korea.

Kang had a 65 to turn a three-shot deficit into a one-shot victory over Juli Inkster of the United States.

The 21-year-old Miyazato, seeking her first career win on the U.S. tour after winning a Japanese major earlier this month, mixed four birdies with a pair of bogeys in the final round.

"I came up a little short, but I went 2 under on the final day. That's positive," Miyazato said. "I hit the ball well this week. I'm taking steps forward for my first win on the tour. I believe I'm almost there."
