The naming rights to Chiba Marine Stadium will be sold off for the 2011 season, baseball sources said Thursday.

An agreement was reached between the city of Chiba, which owns the stadium, and the Chiba Lotte Marines.

Lotte will begin a public offer after appearing in the Japan Series and plans to use the proceeds from the sale on renovations, such as changing the artificial turf, during the off-season.

The Marines will host Japan Series games from Nov. 2-4, possibly the last time the venue will be known as Chiba Marine Stadium.

Completed in 1990, Chiba Marine Stadium has been home to Lotte since 1992. Lotte began maintenance and operations of the venue in 2006.

The team's parent company, Lotte Co. Ltd., initially did not appear interested in selling the naming rights but was convinced to make the offer by the financially strapped city of Chiba.
