OSAKA (Kyodo) Kimiko Date Krumm routed Aiko Nakamura 6-2, 6-0 on Thursday to set up a quarterfinal against defending champion and top-seeded Australian Samantha Stosur at the Japan Women’s Open.

The 40-year-old Date Krumm converted six of seven break chances and needed just 52 minutes to see off her compatriot at Utsubo Tennis Center.

In other second-round action, third-seeded Israeli Shahar Peer defeated wild card Ryoko Fuda 3-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic defeated Italy’s Alberta Brianti 6-1, 7-5.

Jill Craybas of the United States beat Ukraine’s Olga Savchuk 6-1, 6-1.
